A telephonic joke (Not Recommended)

Pros None given.

Cons The biggest example of a company gone mad. We have had no luck with BT at all.
From moving house with 1 months notice to moving in our new home and having 17 - that's right 17 appointments cancelled because their computer system was unable to process it. NO amount of calls, letters, emails or otherwise could resolve the issue until I sat on my friends phone for 3 consecutive hours speaking to one numpty after another and not one of them could do anything. Finally, a manager was able to put the appointment through.
2 months later they disconnected us despite us not wanting to be disconnected and being up to date on the bill. Then they couldn't give us our original number back, even though the whole farce was their fault.
We managed to arrange to get out of our contract and have our services through another provider but conveniently BT have forgotten.
The people who answer the phones in Scotland tend to be lovely but theones who answer overseas are perpetually struggling with language issues and appear to have no ability or authority to do anything, we have spent hours, no exaggeration, HOURS, waiting for one after another of them to pass the call to someone else, or to ask their manager questions.
We'e encountered no end of liars, people who say they cannot put you through to a manager and they've checked but the manager is not available, but eventually, once the call gets a bit sticky they miraculously find the manager. There are a thousand more examples of the 6 month debacle of 'services' we've had with BT.
Give them a big miss, they will ruin the whole concept of convenient calls.
This company are an abomination.

Terrible Customer Service (Not Recommended)

Pros I got a line into my house

Cons never ever have I come across a company that is so bad with its customer service. I signed up for broadband and in the space of 12 months probably 10 months of that I had intermittent broadband connection, sometimes it lasted days and I was still paying for it and it turned out to be the most ecpensive. The support was clearly not in the UK and I ended up setting my alarm for 4am to at least get to talk to someone. Terrible service, terrible support cancelled my connection

BT are the devil (Not Recommended)

Pros Since I've had a BT line I've had no problem with it, and the charges are not outrageous.

Cons My lord where to begin. I moved into a new home in 2007, which had a BT line installed (I had never been a BT customer before). I spoke to BT and confirmed they'd be switching the existing BT line from my landlady's name to mine the day before I was due to move in. Moving day: no dial tone. After waiting in phone queue for 45mins (on my mobile) I got through to someone who insisted she could not help me unless I had my BT number, which of course I did not have as I wasn't a customer before and had just moved in that day. After several hours and calls I got a man who chided me and insisted my phone must be broken, but grudgingly agreed to send a technician out but warned me I would have to pay if it was my phone. Next week: technician never shows. I call and am told, "yeah we cancelled, we've been working on that fault in that area for two weeks and we don't need access to your flat." Um, why didn't you tell me you'd cancelled so I didn't have to miss work? And why did I get told off and treated like a moron for insisting the fault was with the line and not my phone if you'd known for a week there was a line fault? Anyway a week later, still no dial tone. Twice more I make appointments and the person simply never shows up. It took me over two months to get a working phone line at my home, and until then I had no phone (except my mobile) no internet and no TV.

Good service, but not much else (Not Recommended)

Pros We've not really ever had to phone their customer service, as thankfully we've not had any major problems with the internet or phone line - then again, considering the price we've been paying I wouldn't have expected us to.

Cons We have ended up paying £51/ month for phone + internet. We've now halved this in our house by switching ISPs. Now we only pay £21/month for an any time service. We were signed up to a new 18 month contract after our original one finished WITHOUT CONSULTATION - are they allowed to do that? Now they want to charge us for switching ISPs.

Not sure it suffices (Not Recommended)

Pros When you have a service you can make a phone call.

Cons Too many times they send you an incorrect bill that you have to chase up because they´ve not recorded your payment properly in your account. Try moving house and getting your account moved or disconnected and you´ll find out how slowly they operate. Call fowarding also takes too long to take affect and they´re the bottleneck in getting your Broadband line enabled when you join an ISP.

Whats Wrong With BT? (Recommended)

Pros Nothing really,

I Find them helpful, they are nice people, ive not spoken to one calling me from a country i struggle to pronounce and only expect to have to say when ordering a take away from my local indian place.

I've only been with them a few months, but so far...so good.

I've had one issue, the line was crackling, it wouldn't keep my brodband stable and as a keen xboxer this was annoying the hell out of me because i was missing out on my daily fix of shooting people on COD4.

So i called up BT, they turned up, they fixed it.

They were nice, they declined my offer of a cuppa (shame because i make wicked tea) they fixed the issue straight away, even though tests showed nothing was wrong, they believed me and investigated.

Well Dont B.T

Cons The one con i saw, was that they were going to charge me if i called them out and it turned out there was no fault and the problem was with say my phone.

Of course had this ever have been the problem i would of gone to my nearest green box and kicked it in, therefore erradicating the charge.

Origonal and the best (Recommended)

Pros The original and, in my opinion, still the best. They supply the complete package for me – telephone and broadband and to date they have never let me down. The broadband side is fast and always on and having the internet phone as well included in the package is an added bonus that eases a little of the bill cost from the main phone. Also have the free evening and weekend calls bit added in as well which is great to phone friends and family free.

Cons None given.

Good broadband (Recommended)

Pros I use the BT’s Total Broadband service and have been doing so for about a year now and so far it has been very solid.

After signing up I was given a wireless hub (actually a stylish bit of kit) together with a wireless VOIP phone and all in all the package was very good. The system set-up was very straight forward (even I managed it with only one phone call to their excellent technical support) and connection speed has always been quick. I’ve never had a dropped connection either.

OK, the monthly cost for Option 3 is slightly more expensive than some ISPs, but I was swayed by the high quality hub and phone I was given together with the piece of mind that comes with using BT.

Cons None given.

Very Expensive (Not Recommended)

Pros BT are a major corporation backed by years of solid experience in the communications industry. In theory (and in practice) almost every other telephonic or internet communications company will utilise BT resources in one way or another to provide their services to the end client.

Cons Cost. BT is very expensive for any of its’ services, but they rely on people’s loyalty (or laziness or lack of awareness) to not migrate to other suppliers.

What amazes me is that a company like BT will charge you something like 4p per min for a weekday call, whereas there are many other companies (18185 for example) who will charge you only a 5p connection charge and the rest of the call is free for up to 90 mins. So a 10 min call with BT is 40p, same call with other companies is 5p. Same call, same service everything. So why do BT charge so much? I made the switch. Maybe others should as well …………………………………

Best Broadband Technical Support (Recommended)

Pros My experience is excellent, I have always been helped brilhantly by BT Broadband Technical Support Staff, specially by foreigners in India, they seen to give you more attention. It's hard to understand their names over the phone but that does not matter, they always try their utmost to solve the problem. They will hold on the line ultill the problem is enterely fixed, no matter how long it takes.
Well done BT for having such good staff in India!

Cons Sometimes waiting time can be long!
