A Real Disappointment
(Not Recommended)
Pros
The Real Greek is located on the Thames, and affords wonderful views across the river, especially at night when London looks peaceful and magical.
Cons
A group of us decided to meet up at Real Greek for an evening meal. As it was a fairly large party (16 of us) when we booked the hostess offered a service when we could order in advance, which is a good idea as much for our sanity as the waiters and chefs. We put our order of food and drink a couple of days before we were due there. However, even though they had fair warning and knew in advance our orders, after we were seated it took one and a half hours of our food to arrive. After the initial drinks order, no waiters came near us the entire time, even though several of us tried to make eye contact and ended up having to go to the counter to order more drinks. There was no apology when the food did arrive – it was a dump and run.
Naturally we were starving when the food did arrive and while tasty, the mezes/tapas style and portions of food was substantial enough to satisfy and we were still hungry. We ended up ordering more, which to be fair did arrive fairly quickly, but shouldn’t have been necessary if we were served after a reasonable length of time first time around, (particularly when we pre-ordered!) The food itself was good, but given the price it’s quite expensive for what you get (approx £5 for each mezes/tapas). It was a disappointing experience.
