Delightful and affordable (Recommended)

Pros After a few drinks at the pub, we were very hungry, but up for something nice. Boy was it nice. They recommended a very nice rose and I had the most delicious haddock with creamy sauce. The desserts were fabulous as well (we all had our spoons in each others, so I can tell you that they were all delicious!). They were also very gracious about giving us our space, letting us enjoy the nice atmosphere. The waitress was great; friendly but not too chatty. Overall one of the best meals I've had in London so far!

Cons Nothing is wrong with this place!

Fab! (Recommended)

Pros I thought this place was lovely due to the reasonable prices (mostly), friendly staff and really nice food. I tasted my gfriend's beetroot sald and I thought it was top notch. I had the haddock in a creamy sauce which was amazing. The waitress there (long brown hair) was incredibly approachable and was able to give us recommendations. Atmosphere was nice and relaxed.

Cons No cons here - will be going again.

good (Recommended)

Pros For me, this place works better as a wine bar - either for drinks and nibbles at lunch or as a place to gather after work (though it can be quite quiet unless you go with a group).
I do like the sandwiches you cann get here - crispy duck is a favourite but avoid the "Betjeman's" (chicken and bacon) which is dry and tough - or maybe I've just been unlucky! but good servise and very clean

Cons bit quiet

Excellent English food, done properly (Recommended)

Pros This is what a restaurant should be. It has a friendly family run atmosphere but with smart decor. The food is sublime, I tried the beetroot salad as a starter which was perfectly balanced and dressed. I had the haddock for my main, served with mashed potato and topped with a poached egg, a perfect dish. The wine list is excellent value, Gavi di Gavi for just over £20 or Chapel Down for about the same! In fact when they ran out of the Gavi de Gavi they upgraded my Chapel Down to the reserva for free. I would not hesitate to go back. Apparently John Betjeman used to live above the place as well, what more could you want?

Cons None given.

Best value restaurant in London (Recommended)

Pros This is a hidden gem just off Smithfields.

Typical English dishes are served with mains costing no more than £15. They also have a great selection of wines (including some good English ones), and deserts to die for.

The staff are all incredibly friendly and do the types of things you always wished happened in restaurants (like upgrading a wine if they are out of stock of what you order).

It is quite small so advisable to book a few days in advance - especially if you have a group of more than four.

Cons Absolutely non.
